EdelcUP~
November 16, 2006 '

Approval of Naming the Future Observation Walk Path Along the Mangrove
Reserve Within Town Center Park in Honor of Harvey Baker Graves

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the naming
of the future observation walk path along the mangrove reserve within Town Center Park in
honor of Harvey Baker Graves.

REASONS:

In 1920, Harvey Baker Graves, a private investor from Rochester, New York, purchased a 2.26
square mile tract of land including a three quarter of a mile of adjacent ocean frontage, and
developed that area calling it "Sunny Isles". He also purchased an additional winding nine (9)
miles of Biscayne Bay, Bella Vista and Dumbfoundling Bay Water Frontage.

To honor Harvey Baker Graves, I would like to propose that this City Commission establish a
commemorative plaque naming the future observation walk path along the mangrove reserve
within Town Center Park, located at 17200 Collins A venue, the "Harvey Baker Graves
Mangrove Reserve", and to dedicate it on June 16,2007, on the loth Anniversary of the City of
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.

NSE:jah

Comm Memo Dedicate Mangrove Reserve jlarvey Raker Graves
