John Szerlag, City Manager 'f Derrick Arias, Information Technology Director May 18, 2006 Agreement with Black Bear Systems, Inc. for Modification of PTWin32 Software Program and Training of Staff RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving an agreement with Black Bear Systems, Inc. for modification of the PTWin32 Software Program and Training of Staff for the Building Department. REASONS: The City is in need of special modifications to the PTWin32 software. These modifications are required in order to meet some of the requirements of the Building Department in the operation of a permitting and licensing system. The cost for program modifications is in an amount not to exceed Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00). The City is also in need of training services for the Building Department Staff. Training will be provided on-site at a daily rate of $1400 plus expenses. We are estimating 3 days of on-site training plus expenses, in an amount not to exceed Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The manufacturer of the PTWin32 software, Black Bear Systems, is the only vendor authorized to make modifications to the program code. They are also the only vendor with a formal training program on the software. As such, this work is being requested of them as a sole-source vendor. Funding for this contract, in a total amount not to exceed Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00), will be provided by the Building Department Technology Fee Fund.
