<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- t'J..S7 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT <br />WITH THE HISTORY PRESS TO PURCHASE ONE THOUSAND <br />(1,000) COPIES OF A BOOK ENTITLED "FROM SANDBAR TO <br />SOPHISTICATION: THE STORY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH", IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED SIXTY <br />DOLLARS ($10,560.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS ATTACHMENT <br />"A"; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID <br />AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THE <br />AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to have a book published which will <br />capture the City's history and provide a medium to inform residents and the general public about the <br />City's rich and distinctive culture and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has entered into an Agreement with writer, Seth H. Bramson, to author <br />a book which will be titled From Sandbar to Sophistication: The Story of Sunny Isles Beach whereby <br />the City will pay the Author a total fee of Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The History Press has expressed the ability and desire to publish a book by the <br />Author and the Author has accepted a publication schedule from the Publisher to deliver a final draft <br />of the Book to the Publisher on or before October 31, 2006; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into an Agreement with The History Press whereby the <br />City will purchase One Thousand (1,000) copies of the Book at a discounted price of Ten Dollars <br />and Fifty-Six Cents ($10.56) per book, for a total of Ten Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Dollars <br />($10,560.00), prior to the scheduled release of the Book on or before April 2007. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I. Approval of Agreement. The Agreement with The History Press to provide One <br />Thousand (1,000) copies of the book entitled From Sandbar to Sophistication: The Story of Sunny <br />Isles Beach, in the amount of Ten Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Dollars ($10,560.00), attached <br />hereto as Attachment "A", be, and the same, is hereby approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Authority of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said Agreement. <br /> <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate the terms of the Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 4 <br /> <br />Effective Date.
