<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007- Jl.!:LD <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE <br />PURCHASE OF AN ID 500 LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINT <br />SYSTEM WITH ASSOCIATED ACCESSORIES FROM CROSS <br />MATCH TECHNOLOGIES, INC. UNDER THE GSA <br />CONTRACT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTEEN <br />THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS AND <br />FIFTY CENTS ($15,760.50), ATTACHED AS EXHIBIT "A"; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, effective January 15, 2007, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement <br />(FDLE) mandated that all law enforcement agencies conducting pre-employment background <br />investigations on law enforcement applicants, must submit their fingerprints in an electronic <br />format; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a secondary date of January 1,2008 was also set mandating that all current <br />law enforcement employees be re-fingerprinted and electronically submitted to the FDLE; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Cross Match Technologies, Inc., under the Federal GSA pricing schedule, <br />Contract #GS-35F-0199R, provided a quote for the purchase of an ID 500 Live Scan Fingerprint <br />System with accessories, in an amount not to exceed Fifteen Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty <br />Dollars and Fifty Cents ($15,760.50), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, purchasing this system would allow the Police Department to capture and <br />submit these mandated electronic fingerprints in-house, without requiring our officers or <br />applicants to travel to an off-site third party vendor, and would allow the Human Resources <br />Department to submit general applicant fingerprints with a turn around time of approximately 24 <br />hours compared to the standard three (3) weeks; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's procurement codes provides that purchases made under state, <br />county or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other governmental agencies are <br />exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funds for the purchase of this system is available in budgeted funds <br />($15,000.00) previously allocated for the purchase of a "MILO" Interactive Learning System, <br />which will not be purchased in order to purchase the mandated equipment. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approving the Purchase.
