He reque.'ted TSi test this material for surface accessibility. <br /> <br />TEST METHOD: ASTM F' 1951-99, Slandard Specificalionj{)I' Determination oj'Accessibility of <br />Suiface Under and Around Playground EquipmcnJ. .. <br /> <br />REQlJlREMENT: A surface in place shall have average work per foot (work per meter) values for <br />straight propulsion and for tuming less than the a\erage work per foot (work per <br />meter) values for. straight propulsion and for turning. respectively. on a hard, smooth <br />surface with a grade of 1 :14 (7.1 %). <br /> <br />PROCEDURE: Loose Fin SurfacePreparatioo: Tests were conducted on 9/15/04 indoors at 72F and <br />60% R.H. The loo:;e rubber mulch was tluffedinto a wooden box in [aY~"5 one inch <br />thick. After each 1" increment, the mulch was walked in all directions for <br />approximately 15-mim:tes before adding a'lomer layer. The same procedure <br />continued for a total of two layers (2"). The s)nthetic turf, which had been in.filJed <br />'W-rthcrumb rubber by the client, was installed over the mulch 31ld rolled several <br />times with a waTer-filled drum roller. <br /> <br />WheeIehairfOperator: The wheelchair used in these tests was manufactured by <br />lnvcarc. model ActiOD Xtra, serial Number 9$J84142. 'TrJs wheelchair is totally <br />adjustabie, a necessity for these tests. The pneumatic tires were inflated to 60 psi on <br />the rear and 32 psi on the front. The weight of the wheelchair was 24.2.5 pounds and <br />the operator's weight 'i\'aS 165 pounds fora total of r89 pOU!lds. His weight distribution <br />was adjusted to 60% on the rear wheels and 4-D % on the front. <br /> <br />Torque Measuring S)'Stem:A .~ertified Dillion Electronic Fora Gauge, Model <br />BFG SOON, SiN 98-2277"()7 was used as an interface between a A1iCl"on Laptop and <br />a certified Dillon Smart Torque Wrench, SIN 97..()1')85"()1. Software, also from <br />Dillon, logged the IQad Ys. time and integrated the area under the resulting Cl!rVC, <br />The adapterS and 3CCeSsories needed to anach the instrumentation were fabricated <br />lOcally.
