<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007-J1.!d..j <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,; APPROVING AN <br />AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN RONALD L. BOOK, ESQ. <br />AND THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH FOR <br />PROFFESSIONAL LEGISLATIVE RELATIONS AND LOBBYING <br />SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT OF $55,000.00 PER YEAR, <br />EFFECTIVE FROM OCTOBER 1, 2007 THROUGH SEPTEMBER <br />30, 2008, WITH AN OPTION FOR AN ADDITIONAL YEAR, <br />ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT; <br />PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has had and continues to anticipate a number <br />of issues that will come before the Florida Legislature and possibly other legislative bodies that <br />will directly affect the City of Sunny Isles Beach and for which the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />may be eligible to receive funding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since 1998 the City has contracted Ronald L. Book, Esq. for the provision <br />of professional legislative and lobbyist services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Book has performed well overall, assisting the City in securing grant <br />monies from State and County agencies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City and Mr. Book desire to continue their professional association for <br />the provision of legislative relations and lobbyist services, in an amount of $55,000,00 per year, <br />effective from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008, with an option for an additional <br />year, in accordance with the professional Services Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Agreement. The Agreement by and between the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach and Ronald L. Book, P.A. for professional services, in an amount of $55,000.00 per year, <br />effective from October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008, with an option for an additional <br />year, attached hereto as Exhibit "A", be, and the same, is hereby approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do <br />all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Professional Services Agreement. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
