<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007-~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO EXPEND FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED <br />FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) IN ORDER TO PAY THE <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH RESORT ASSOCIATION TO HIRE A PUBLIC <br />RELATIONS FIRM AND TO STAFF A GIFT SHOP; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida (the "City") is a nationally and <br />internationally recognized travel and tourist destination, due to its coastal location, tropical <br />climate and world class amenities and attractions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Resort Association ("SIBRA") provides <br />invaluable marketing services to the City, such as promoting the City in travel and tourism <br />publications, advertising in economic development publications, and maintaining membership in <br />key associations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida (the "City") has carefully considered <br />the economic benefits of hiring a public relations firm to promote the City as Florida's Riviera; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, being recognized as Florida's Riviera will assist the City in maximizing <br />economic revenue for the City's travel and tourism businesses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is desirous of paying SIBRA an amount not to exceed thirty <br />thousand dollars ($30,000) for SIBRA to hire a public relations firm to promote the City as <br />Florida's Riviera; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in connection with these efforts to promote the City's travel and tourism <br />amenities, the City will be providing a new gift shop to be located inside the City's Government <br />Center; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a gift shop located inside the City's Government Center will provide <br />essential visitor information services, such as preparing and distributing visitor guides, <br />advertising the City's travel, tourism and local businesses, and providing specific items for sale <br />and free distribution; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is desirous of reimbursing SIBRA to staff the new gift shop, to be <br />located inside the City's Government Center, in amount not to exceed twenty thousand dollars <br />($20,000) for the fiscal year 2007/2008. <br /> <br />Resolution authorizing payments to SIBRA Page 1 of 2 <br />
