John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br /> <br />! <br /> <br />Susan Simpson, Cultural and Human Services Dire <br /> <br />Date of Meeting <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF NAME AND LOCATION OF BEACH ACCESS DEDICATION <br />SIGN <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the name and <br />location of a beach access dedication sign. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br /> <br />At the June 15, 2006 City Commission meeting, it was established that the City Commission wished to <br />dedicate certain beach accesses. It is proposed by Mayor Norman EdeIcup, and before you now for your <br />approval, to name the beach access located at 17275 Collins Avenue in honor ofIrving M. Diamond. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br /> <br />Irving Diamond, who passed away on October 7, 2007, volunteered countless hours to this City and <br />served on many City Committees including the Education/Schools Committee, the Advisory Committee <br />for the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department, the Community Traffic Safety Team and American <br />Disability Act Advisory Committee, the Charter Revision Commission and the Sunny Isles Beach <br />Canvassing Board. Additionally, Irving was very active in his community as past President of B 'nai Zion <br />Men's Club, past President of Winston Towers 200 Building and, most notably, as the President of <br />Concerned Citizens of North Dade. <br /> <br />Irving will long be remembered for his work and efforts for the betterment of Sunny Isles Beach. This <br />beach access to be named "Irving M.
