<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2007- I' 95 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE FLORIDA <br />LEAGUE OF MAYORS "MAYORS GREEN CITY ACTION <br />ACCORD" SUPPORTING THE GOVERNOR'S ENERGY <br />ACTION TEAM AND THE FLORIDA GREEN BUILDING <br />COALITION'S GREEN CITIES PROGRAM, ATTACHED <br />HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach recognizes the importance of developing and <br />using alternative energies and reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors adopted the "Mayors <br />Green City Action Accord", attached hereto as Exhibit "A", on August 17, 2007 which <br />encourages cities to participate in this initiative and promote the development of programs that <br />achieve the Green City Standards and designation, involve cost-effective solutions, improve <br />Florida's overall quality of life, and strengthen our economy; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Green City Local Government Standard defines those <br />municipalities meeting the "Green City" designation as those which incorporate multiple <br />environmental, ecological and sustainability features into their municipal functions which <br />improve environmental performance beyond minimum required by state and local environmental <br />regulations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to adopt the Florida League of <br />Mayors "Mayors Green City Action Accord" support the Governor's Energy Action Team and <br />the Florida Green Building Coalition's Green Cities Program. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Adoption of Mayors Green City Action Accord. The City Commission of the <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, hereby adopts the Florida League of Mayors "Mayors Green <br />City Action Accord" and its provisions, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do <br />all things necessary to effectuate the intent of this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. Directive of City Clerk.
