<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008- 1'2.05 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A MIAMI-DADE COUNTY METROPOLITAN <br />PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, <br />IN AN AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED FORTY-THREE THOUSAND TWO <br />HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINE DOLLARS ($143,279.00), FOR A MASTER <br />THOROUGHFARE PLAN; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT TO THE <br />OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES, AS <br />APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County's Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) provides <br />grants to governmental entities for transportation studies through the Unified Planning Work <br />Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan sets forth specific transportation goals for the <br />City to improve the safety and efficiency of roadway systems through transportation system <br />management techniques; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is in need of a Master Thoroughfare Plan to be used to assist with the <br />traffic concurrency element of the City's Comprehensive Master Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, obtainment of a MPO grant in the amount of One Hundred Forty-Three <br />Thousand Two Hundred Seventy-Nine Dollars ($143,279.00) would assist the City in offsetting the <br />cost of the Master Thoroughfare Plan of$179,098.00, of which the required 20% match by the City <br />is in the amount of Thirty-Five Thousand Eight Hundred Nineteen Dollars ($35,819.00); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money in the <br />amount of$143,279.00 for the Master Thoroughfare Plan. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authority to Apply For, Accept and Expend Grant Funds. The City Manager is <br />authorized to apply for, accept and expend funds from an MPO grant, in an amount of One Hundred <br />Forty-Three Thousand Two Hundred Seventy-Nine Dollars ($143,279.00), for a Master <br />Thoroughfare Plan. <br /> <br />Section 2, Authorization of the City Manager.
