John Szerlag, City Manager <br /> <br />FROM: Douglas Haag, Assistant City Manager-Finance <br /> <br />DATE: January 17,2008 <br /> <br />RE: APPROVAL TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND FUNDS FROM <br />METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) GRANT FOR <br />MASTER THOROUGHFARE PLAN IN THE AMOUNT OF $143,279 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to take the necessary steps to <br />obtain Miami-Dade County grant funds for the cost of a Master Thoroughfare Plan for the City. <br />This plan will be used to assist with the traffic concurrency element of the City's Comprehensive <br />Master Plan. The total project cost is estimated at $179,098. The grant amount is $143,279 and <br />the required matching funds in the amount of $35,819 have been budgeted in account 20-600- <br />5313 for FY 2007/08, <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />This is an annual municipal grant program made available by Miami-Dade MPO for federal <br />transportation planning funds. A ward of these funds is made on a competitive basis with a local <br />minimum matching requirement of 20% of estimated projects costs.
