RESOLUTION NO. 2008-..J.2l.~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CONTRIBUTION TO THE AVENTURA MARKETING COUNCIL, IN AN AMOUNT OF TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00), TOWARD THE SPONSORSHIP OF PANGAEA: WORLD FESTIVAL IN AVENTURA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the A ventura Marketing Council was created in 1988 to carve out a niche for A ventura and its neighboring communities; and WHEREAS, the A ventura Marketing Council is recognized as one of the most successful and progressive organizations in South Florida; and WHEREAS, the A ventura Marketing Council has organized a new international festival, PANGAEA: World Festival in Aventura, which is scheduled January 26 - 27, 2008 at the Aventura Founders Park; and WHEREAS, the A ventura Marketing Council has offered the City the opportunity to be one of the sponsors of the event; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to be a sponsor for PANGAEA: World Festival in A ventura, and to make a contribution in an amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), to the A ventura Marketing Council. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Contribution. The City Commission hereby approves a contribution to the A ventura Marketing Council, in an amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), to sponsor the new international festival, PANGAEA: World Festival in Aventura. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
