<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008-~q <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A <br />PAY PLAN FOR SWORN POLICE OFFICERS; <br />ESTABLISHING EFFECTIVE DATE OF PAY PLAN; <br />PROVIDING FOR PERIODIC REVIEW OF PAY PLAN, <br />ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A'; PROVIDING THE <br />CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF <br />THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since inception the City Commission has expressed its desire to have and <br />maintain a first-rate police department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to remain competitive with neighboring municipalities in order <br />to attract, keep, and retain qualified officers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's current Police Pay Plan has been found to be below average as <br />compared to surrounding communities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of revising it Police Pay Plan in an effort to <br />bring the Police Department first to parity with other communities and then to the 75th percentile of <br />the Police Pay Plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve a new Pay Plan for sworn police <br />officers, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department Pay Plan. The City <br />Commission hereby approves the Pay Plan to maintain a first class Police Department in the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach, attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date of Pay Plan. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City <br />Manager to implement this Pay Plan no later than the first pay period in March, 2008. <br /> <br />Section 3. Periodic Review of Pay Plan. The City Commission hereby instructs the City <br />Manager to review the Pay Plan discussed herein every two (2) years from the effective date. The <br />City Manager shall provide the City with a report no later than thirty (30) days from the date of <br />review to confirm whether the pay plan is in need of recalibration. <br /> <br />R2008- Police Pay Plan For Sworn Otlicers <br /> <br />Page I 01'2 <br />
