<br />29. Inlets, Manholes and Junction Boxes (Section 425) <br /> <br />The applicable portions of the Metropolitan Miami-Dade County Public Works Manual (latest <br />edition), Part 1, Standard Details, as pertain to the design and construction of drainage wells and <br />structures, are part of these Contract Documents. <br /> <br />Section 425-6.7 - BACKFILLING: Add the following to this sub-article: <br /> <br />Select material shall be used for backfill adjacent to riser inlets, manholes and drainage well <br />structures as detailed in the Plans. It shall consist of well-graded limerock or limerock and sand fill. <br />Sand or fill having a high proportion of sand will not be accepted as select fill. All selected fill shall <br />be approved by the Engineer prior to placing. No separate payment will be made for select fill, but <br />shall be included in the Unit Price Bid for each particular item as indicated in the Bid Form of the <br />Proposal. <br /> <br />Section 425-8.2 - Adjusting Structures: This sub-article is expanded to include: <br /> <br />Upon completion of the Work and prior to acceptance and final payment all such structures will be <br />inspected by the Engineer to ensure that they are free of all debris and thoroughly cleaned. <br /> <br />30. Adjustment or Relocation of Valve, Meter, Mail Boxes and Pull Boxes (Section 425-8.2) <br /> <br />The Work under these pay items includes any adjustments, relocation (raising, or lowering) of <br />existing valve, meter, mail boxes and pull boxes. <br /> <br />When relocation ofthe box is required, the Contractor shall make all necessary arrangements with the <br />utility companies, as the utility companies are responsible to relocate the valves and meters and valve <br />and meter boxes. Relocation of mail boxes are the Contractor's responsibility <br /> <br />31. Concrete Pipe (Section 449) <br /> <br />449-4.1 Special Requirements: <br /> <br />Concrete Pipe shall meet the design requirements of the class of pipe called for on the Bid Form of <br />the Proposal. Pipe design shall be based upon requirements set forth in ASTM C 76 or Special <br />Design which meet the requirements of ASTM C 655. For pipe designated as Class S, the pipe design <br />will meet the requirements for ASTM C 655 and the 0.01" crack and ultimate D-loads given on the <br />Roadway and Traffic Design Standards, Index Number 205. <br /> <br />The Process of manufacture and the details of the pipe design, including strength of the concrete, will <br />comply with the Standard Operating Procedure for the Inspection of Precast Drainage Products. <br /> <br />At the Contractor's option non-reinforced pipe up to and including 36" diameter, may be used in <br />place of reinforced concrete pipe designated Class S, Class I, II, Ill, and IV. Non-reinforced pipe <br />shall meet the requirements of ASTM C 985 and the ultimate D-loads given on the Roadway and <br />Traffic Design Standards, Index Number 205. such pipe shall be properly marked. <br /> <br />Plugging of existing pipes to be abandoned in place shall comply with section 430 4.5 <br /> <br />Rubber gaskets for concrete pipe joints shall comply with section 420. <br /> <br />Oct. 2007, Special Provisions <br /> <br />Page 13 of 15 <br />
