Edelcup ~
DATE: May 15, 2008

RE: Contribution to Sunflower Society, Inc.

RECOMMENDA TION:

It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution contributing $250.00
to Sunflower Society, Inc.

REASONS:

Former City Commissioner Connie Morrow passed away on April 30, 2008. She was elected to
the first Sunny Isles Beach City Commission in 1997 for a 4-year term as a Commissioner, as
well as serving as Vice Mayor. Commissioner Morrow created the Fashion, Film, Entertainment
and Production Council during her term which encouraged, promoted and maintained a positive
environment for economic development of the fashion, film, radio, television, recording and
production industries to work within Sunny Isles Beach.

Commissioner Morrow founded the Sunflower Society in May 1971 which assists children and
families with special needs. The Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that has
contributed monies over the years to the City of Sunny Isles Beach sponsoring children to attend
the City's Day Camp Program that would otherwise not be able to attend due to financial
constraints. The City wishes to contribute $250.00 to the Sunflower Society in her memory.

This community is grateful for Commissioner Morrow's commitment and dedication to the City
of Sunny Isles Beach throughout the years, and will sorely miss her.

Funding for this contribution is available in account number 10-511.5490.

Finance Department

Agenda Item No.:

lOG
5, I ::)-O<t

Funding available:

Commission Meeting Date:

Cover Memo Contribution To Sunflower Society
