Grandinetti, Police Captain May 15,2008 Authorization to Expend up to $24,700 with Gold Nugget d/b/a Argo Uniforms for the Purchase of Police Department Uniforms and Accessories. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to approve the expenditure of budgeted funds in the amount up to Twenty-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars ($24,700.00) to Gold Nugget d/b/a Argo Uniform Company for the purchase of new and replacement uniforms for all uniformed employees of the Police Department. This purchase will carry us through the balance of the current fiscal year. REASONS: The need to purchase and replace uniforms worn by officers and civilians representing the Police Department necessitates that we utilize a vendor who has a local facility and stocks uniforms in quantity to serve the Department's needs. Gold Nugget d/b/a Argo Uniform Company stocks recommended uniforms and styles utilized by our Department. Gold Nugget d/b/a Argo Uniform Company also employs a large staff of seamstress personnel to do alterations and stitching, resulting in faster delivery of uniforms and accessories. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For FY 2007/2008, a total of $86,200 was budgeted city-wide for uniform purchases. Funding for the above purchase is available under the Police uniforms and accessories budget - 10-521-5521. Additionally, we are in the process of developing a Request for Proposals that encompasses all authorized City uniform purchases for fiscal year 2008/2009.
