'lct. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT <br />WITH COASTAL SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL, INC. FOR <br />CONSUL TING ENGINEERING SERVICES RELA TIVE TO AN <br />INITIAL EVALUATION OF POTENTIAL BEACH MANAGEMENT <br />INITIA TIVES WITHIN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, IN <br />THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTY -EIGHT THOUSAND <br />FORTY-EIGHT DOLLARS ($58,048.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS <br />EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID <br />AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach shoreline has suffered maSSIve beach <br />erosion; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to have an initial evaluation of potential beach management <br />initiatives within the City of Sunny Isles Beach and is in need of an evaluation of the relative <br />need of additional coastal structures to help stabilize the shoreline; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to have a feasibility study developed with comprehensive <br />numerical wave modeling of the beach, which will provide information regarding variations in <br />the long-shore sediment transport and the underlying coastal processes, establishing optimal <br />locations for future stabilization project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, based upon the results of a feasibility study, an appropriate continuing <br />scope of services for conceptual design of shoreline stabilization alternatives, regulatory <br />permitting feasibility, and a costlbenefit analysis can be defined; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, via Resolution 2007-1188, the City qualified and ranked Coastal Systems <br />International, Inc. as one of eleven firms qualified to perform general engineering services for <br />the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Coastal Systems International, Inc. has agreed to undertake this project and <br />has submitted a proposal for services, inclusive of a feasibility study; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to enter into an agreement with Coastal Systems <br />International, Inc., attached hereto as Exhibit "A", in the amount of Fifty-Eight Thousand Forty- <br />Eight Dollars ($58,048.00), for consulting engineering services for a feasibility study. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Agreement.
