As you know, the Charter identifies common goals we
share as park professionals and stewards of a livable community. It states our
guiding goals and principles for an area wide model park system, and provides a
basis for a proposed resolution to be adopted by each city through their councils.

The City of North Miami, The Village of Key Biscayne, Miami-Dade
County and the City of South Miami have adopted the Charter through board
approved resolutions. The adoption of the Charter by all participating city,
county, state and federal agencies will create the first Park Coalition in the State
of Florida. The South Florida Park Coalition is a great opportunity for sharing
knowledge and will help us create greater collaboration and cooperation among
agencies. Our goal is to build a model park system that will foster economic
prosperity through a healthier, and a more livable community. We have much
work to do and as a team of professionals working together we can leave a
legacy of health, beauty and a renewed sense of place for the South Florida
community.

A copy of the Charter and a resolution template for you to modify as
necessary is enclosed. If you have any questions, need additional information or
would like for us to give a presentation to your council, please contact W. Howard
Gregg or Maria Nardi at (305) 755-7860. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

~(c:.-d.{)

Ja k ardys, ~i;ector
Mi i-Dade County Park and Recreation Department

JK:mn

Enclosure: Charter and a resolution template.

c: W.
