Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> <br />February 19, 2009 <br /> <br />Approval to Purchase Ten (10) Handheld P7250 Police Radios and associated <br />accessories not to exceed $42,600.00 <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City <br />Manager to purchase ten (10) Handheld P7250 Police Radios and associated accessories not to <br />exceed $42,600. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has only replaced a portion of our handheld police <br />radios over the past ten years. With the increasing number of malfunctions and repair cost of <br />these original radios, and to assure the safety and reliability of this important lifeline equipment <br />issued to our officers, these ten (10) radios would be used to replace several of the older and <br />malfunctioning radios. These radios would be purchased from the Miami-Dade County, <br />Enterprise Technology Services Department, piggybacking the Miami Dade County Contract# <br />195-14. Purchasing these radios through Miami-Dade County would be the most cost effective <br />method being that Miami-Dade County purchases directly through M/A-Com, Inc. (GE Ericsson, <br />Inc.) and receives a 37% discount. Miami-Dade County also provides the programming for all <br />radios on their system. <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> <br />Funds are available in account 10.700-5211 in the amount of $42,000.00.
