<br />FlU <br /> <br />FLORIDA <br />INTERNATIONAL <br />UNIVERSITY <br /> <br />Biscayne Bay Campus <br /> <br />Proposal for the Prestige Cultural Series at BBC 2009 - 2010 <br /> <br />In partnership with the City of Sunny Isles Beach, (and other municipalities) we propose the following <br />series of events to engage our community in outstanding cultural experiences in the educational <br />setting of the Biscayne Bay Campus. <br />The Prestige Cultural Series at BBC will include four events: 1) a Classical Music performance, 2) a <br />Scholarly Debate and Panel Discussion, 3) a Gourmet Wine-pairing Luncheon, and, 4) Opera and <br />Musical Theater in concert (to be held in Sunny Isles Beach). <br />The events will be open to the all of the residents of the sponsoring communities and to donors of the <br />Biscayne Bay Campus. <br /> <br /> Event Approximate Cost Nominal <br /> Admission Fee <br />1 CLASSICAL MUSIC PERFORMANCE - A musical $500 room rental + AV $20pp <br /> performance by an FlU or local performer in FlU's $2500 performance fee <br /> Mary Ann Wolfe Theater, Biscayne Bay Campus- $500 piano rental/tuning <br /> 7pm, Tuesday, November 3 or 10, 2009. Light $200 coffee <br /> refreshments will be served following the Pastries donated by Cost co <br /> performance. <br />2 SCHOLARLY DEBATE AND PANEL DISCUSSION- $500 honoraria $5pp <br /> Topic: Democratic Transitions of Power in the $500 room rental +AV <br /> Middle East. Audience interaction is encouraged. $200 coffee <br /> Mary Ann Wolfe Theater, Biscayne Bay Campus- Pastries donated by Costco <br /> 7pm, Thursday, December 3, 2009. Light <br /> refreshments will be served following the <br /> performance. <br />3 A GOURMET WINE-PAIRING LUNCHEON - $500 wine $30pp <br /> Students plan, create and serve a 3-course gourmet <br /> meal, which includes a salad, warm bread, choice of <br /> two entrees, iced tea, dessert and coffee/tea. The <br /> wine-pairing, which will be hosted by FlU's Harvey <br /> R. Chaplin Eminent Professor Barry Gump, will be <br /> paired with a unique selection of three wines. <br /> Limited to 60 people. School of Hospitality, Biscayne <br /> Bay Campus 12:00pm, date TBA in late Jan. 2010 <br />4 OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATER IN CONCERT- $2500 performance fee paid $15pp - <br /> Young vibrant singers of The Lyric Orchestra will from ticket sales handled by Residents of <br /> perform favorite arias from beloved operas and SIB SIB; <br /> exhilarating musical theater pieces. At a location in Refreshments compliments of $20pp others <br /> Sunny Isles Beach - 7pm, early March 2010. SIB <br /> Refreshments will be served following. <br /> <br />1 <br />
