Grandinetti

DATE:

7/16/2009

RE:

Purchase Twelve (12) Handheld P7250 Police Radios and associated
accessories not to exceed $51,111.72

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution
authorizing the City Manager to purchase twelve (12) Handheld P7250 Police
Radios and associated accessories not to exceed $51,111.72.

REASONS:

The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has replaced a portion of our
handheld police radios over the past ten years. With the increasing number of
malfunctions and repair cost of our original radios, and to assure the safety and
reliability of this important lifeline equipment issued to our officers, these twelve
(12) radios would be used to replace several of the older and malfunctioning
radios. These radios would be purchased from the Miami-Dade County ,
Enterprise Technology Services Department, piggybacking the Miami Dade
County Contract# 195-14. Purchasing these radios through Miami-Dade County
would be the most cost effective method being that Miami-Dade County
purchases directly through MIA-Com, Inc. (GE Ericsson, Inc.) and receives a
37% discount. Miami-Dade County also provides the programming for all radios
on their system.

FUNDING SOURCE:

A transfer of funds will be required from account #10-521-5120

A TT ACHMENTS:
.
