<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009- I 4 <6S <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING STRONG <br />SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSED TRAFFIC LIGHT ON 182ND <br />STREET AND COLLINS AVENUE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade County School Board <br />formed a partnership to create a new kindergarten through eighth grade school which is located <br />less than a mile from the proposed traffic light; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to changing traffic patterns at the new school, opened in August 2008 <br />with expected enrollment of 1,600 children, the need for the proposed traffic light is paramount <br />to create a safe route for children living in condominiums on the east side of Collins A venue; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that the proposed traffic light will protect the <br />public welfare; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City strongly supports the proposed traffic light and traffic intersection <br />at 182nd Street and Collins Avenue; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary for the health, safety and welfare of its citizens and visitors <br />alike to have a safe intersection near a public school. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The recitals set forth in this resolution are incorporated <br />herein by reference as if fully set forth herein. <br /> <br />Section 2. Express Support for Proposed Traffic Signal. The City Commission hereby <br />supports the proposed traffic light and traffic intersection at 182nd Street and Collins Avenue. <br /> <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 4. <br /> <br />Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of September 2009. <br /> <br />
