<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009- ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN <br />INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH AND THE MIAMI-DADE TRANSIT AGENCY, <br />FOR FEDERAL FUNDING P ASS-THROUGH ARRANGEMENTS <br />WITH THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT <br />ACT (ARRA) OF 2009 FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION <br />(FTA 5307) FOR THE CITY TO OPERATE CIRCULATOR <br />SERVICES, IN SUBST ANTIALL Y THE SAME FORM <br />ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE <br />MA YOR TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY ATTORNEY AND CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS <br />AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miami-Dade Transit, an Urbanized Area Formula Program grantee agrees <br />to pass through Federal Transit Administration (FT A) 5307 the American Recovery and <br />Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding for the City of Sunny Isles Beach, a designated FT A funding <br />recipient; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, using that funding, the City of Sunny Isles Beach will provide <br />transportation services within the City to benefit local residents and businesses within the City <br />and within sections of Miami-Dade County north of the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City will provide the citizens of the City of Sunny Isles Beach with <br />improved public transportation by purchasing bus(es) operating, directly or through a <br />transportation contractor, which will meet the local needs; and <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the provision of regularly scheduled transit services which may connect <br />with existing Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) Metrobus services and hIp increase the use of the <br />tyransit services provided by MDT; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has sponsored and is willing to provide an <br />alternative form of supplemental public transit throughout the City and has secured and obligated <br />the necessary funds to provide these services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that entering into this Interlocal Agreement, in <br />substantially the same form attached hereto as Exhibit "A", with Miami-Dade Transit Agency is <br />in the best interest of the City. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />R2009- Interlocal Agmt with County Transit Agency Circulator Srvs <br /> <br />Page I of2 <br />
