<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010-l.5..l..9- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE NAMING OF THE <br />SOUTH COLLINS PARK SYSTEM AS "THE INTRACOAST AL PARKS"; <br />NAMING THE INDIVIDUAL ARMS OF THE PARK AS "SAILFISH <br />PARK", "DOLPHIN PARK", "STINGRAY PARK", "MANATEE PARK", <br />"MARLIN PARK", AND "TARPON PARK"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission purchased additional property along the west side of <br />Collins Avenue south of Sunny Isles Boulevard for open space/park purposes in the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach to improve the quality of life for its citizens and visitors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on July 16, 2009 via Resolution No. 2009-1452, and on September 17, <br />2009 via Resolutions No. 2009-1478 and No. 2009-1483, the City Commission approved the <br />purchase of real property located at 16100 Collins Avenue, 16200 Collins Avenue, and 16050 <br />Collins Avenue, respectively, for open space/park purposes for residents of Sunny Isles Beach; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to name the south Collins park system along <br />the west side of Collins A venue from the southern entryway of the City to south of Sunny Isles <br />Boulevard as "The Intracoastal Parks"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to name the individual arms of the Park as <br />"Sailfish Park", "Dolphin Park", "Stingray Park", "Manatee Park", "Marlin Park", and "Tarpon <br />Park", with the family names, per the individual purchase agreements, incorporated and joined <br />with the applicable name. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Naming of City Parks. The City Commission hereby declares that the City <br />Park located along the west side of Collins Avenue from the southern City limits to south of <br />Sunny Isles Boulevard be named as "The Intracoastal Parks", and the individual arms of the Park <br />be named as "Sailfish Park", "Dolphin Park", "Stingray Park", "Manatee Park", "Marlin Park", <br />and "Tarpon Park". <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />do all things necessary to effectuate this resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
