<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2000-~. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br />AMENDING SECTION 33-149 OF THE ZONING CODE OF MIAMI <br />DADE COUNTY AS ADOPTED BY SECTION 8.3 OF THE CHARTER OF <br />THE CITY ENTITLED DUTY OF OWNERS OF BUILDINGS; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE ADDITION OF THE REQUIREMENT THAT <br />BUILDINGS WHICH HAVE ENTRANCES THAT ABUT A WATERWAY <br />OR BEACH PROVIDE ADDRESS NUMBERS VISIBLE FROM SAME; <br />PROVIDING FOR A COMPLIANCE PERIOD PRIOR TO <br />ENFORCEMENT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING <br />FOR REPEAL OF CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR <br />INCLUSION IN THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF <br />ENFORCEMENT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department and the Code and <br />Licensing Enforcement Division have encountered difficulty in identifying waterfront properties <br />from the rear for code enforcement issues but more importantly in cases of police emergencies; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the addition of this requirement will enhance the City's ability to maintain <br />the health, safety, and welfare of our citizenry: <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section1. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Section 33-149 entitled "Duty of owners of buildings" is herby amended as <br />follows: <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of the owner of any building facing, abutting, opening or <br />having its main entrance from any right-of-way in the County City as well as any <br />building facing, abutting, opening or having any rear entrance from any waterway <br />or beach to have affixed to such building suitable numbers composed of figures <br />not less than three (3) inches in height, and/or panel upon glass or some metallic <br />substance, in accordance with the plats referred to in section 33-148(a) hereof. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />All buildings constructed, erected or removed after January 31, 1941 shall upon <br />completion of their construction, erection or removal be numbered by the owner <br />thereof as per section 33-148 hereof. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />It shall be the duty of the owner to maintain numbers of his buildings as herein <br /> <br />33-149 Ordinance amendment. <br /> <br />Page 1 of3 <br />
