<br />ORDINANCE NO.6.OOl:: I , q <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT IN GOLDEN <br />SHORES OCEAN BLVD ESTATES SUBDMON FROM THE CURRENT <br />POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 30 MPH TO 20 MPH; PROVIDING FOR THE <br />POSTING OF THE NEW REDUCED SPEED LIMIT; PROVIDING <br />PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; PROVIDING FOR A WARNING <br />PERIOD; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDED FOR <br />INCLUSION IN THE CODE; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF <br />CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been an increase in the number of younger families with children <br />moving into the Golden Shores area, and the City has established a park in the area increasing <br />pedestrian traffic; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is authorized by Interlocal Agreement and COWlty Code section <br />30-299 to reduce the existing speed limit; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach deems it to be in the best interest of the <br />health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Golden Shores Ocean Blvd Estates to reduce the <br />existing speed limit from 30 MPH to 20 MPH; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />S~ion 1. Speed limit within Golden Shores Ocean Blvd Estates Subdivision. There is <br />hereby established a new reduced speed limit of no more than 20 Miles Per Hour on the <br />following streets as follows: <br /> <br />a. From the SE comer of 185 Street and Atlantic Blvd to the NE comer of 191 <br />Terrace, west toward North Bay road and S/SE to SW comer of 185 Street and <br />North Bay Road; including all of 185 Street, 186 Street, 187 Street, 188 Street, <br />189 Street, 189 Terrace, 190 Terrace, 191 Street, and 191 Terrace within Golden <br />Shores Ocean Blvd Estates Subdivision (31-2202-006,007,008, and 009). <br /> <br />Section 1-2. Posting of Established Speed Limit. All speed zones shall be posted with clearly <br />legible signs. No change shall take effect until the authority changing the speed limit posts the <br />zone. <br /> <br />Section 1-3. Penalties For Violation.
