<br />the alarm based upon a reasonable beliefthat an emergency or actual or threatened criminal activity <br />requiring immediate response existed; or <br />The alarm system was activated by lightning or an electrical surge that caused physical damage to the <br />system, as evidenced by the testimony of a licensed alarm system contractor who conducted an <br />on-site inspection and personally observed the damage to the system; or If the user experienced a <br />power outage of four or more hours, causing the alarm to activate upon restoration of power, as <br />evidenced by written documentation provided by Florida Power and Light Company or other <br />applicable provider. <br /> <br />(I) Local Alarm means an alarm system that emits a signal at an alarm site that is audible <br />or visible from the exterior ofthe structure protected. <br /> <br />(J) Officer shall mean the City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department employee <br />responding to an alarm covered by this Ordinance. <br /> <br />(K) Monitoring Company means a company properly licensed by the State of Florida to <br />monitor alarm systems. <br /> <br />(L) Person means an individual, corporation, partnership, association, organization, or <br />similar entity. <br /> <br />(M) Police Chief means the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach, Dade County, Florida or their designee. <br /> <br />(N) Premises means the building or structure or portion of a building or structure upon <br />which is installed or maintained an alarm system. <br /> <br />(0) (0) City means the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Dade County, Florida. <br />(P) Fiscal veal' means from October 1 of one calendar veal' through September 30 of the <br />next calendar veal'. <br /> <br />Section 1-5. Registration of Alarm Systems Required. <br /> <br />(A) It is hereby deemed unlawful for any person to operate any alarm system required to <br />be registered as provided herein prior to filing the required alarm registration. All alarm systems that <br />operate within the City Limits shall be registered with the Code Enforcement and Licensing <br />Department prior to the operation of said alarm. <br /> <br />(B) A separate registration is required for each Alarm System. <br /> <br />(C) It shall be the duty of every Person owning, operating, or purchasing any business <br />premises within the City Limits to comply with the requirements of this article prior to operating any <br />alarm system. <br /> <br />(E) The owner/user shall complete and submit to the City an emergency contact <br /> <br />02004- Alarm System Registration <br /> <br />page 3 of 13 <br />
