<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2007- Z 7 '1 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA AMENDING CHAPTER <br />197, ENTITLED "OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE AND TAX" BY <br />RENAMING SAID CHAPTER TO "LOCAL BUSINESS TAX" IN <br />COMPLIANCE WITH FLORIDA STATE LAW; ESTABLISHING <br />A SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR NEW BUSINESS CATEGORIES; <br />PROVIDING FOR NEW ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTIES; <br />PROVIDING FOR REPEALER, SEVERABILITY AND AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Lcgislature has amendcd Chaptcr 205, Florida Statutes, to <br />rename the tax imposed by a local governing body for the privilege of engaging in a business or <br />profession within that jurisdiction from "Occupational License Tax" to "Local Business Tax"; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City also wishes to establish a schedule of fees for new business and <br />professional categories; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to amend Chapter 197 of the City Code to <br />reflect this change. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified <br />and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part by this ordinance <br />upon adoption hereof. <br /> <br />Section 2. Purpose and Intent. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach finds, <br />determines, and declares that Chapter 197 of the City's Code requires amendment to reflect the <br />new law enacted by the Florida Legislature. Additionally, the City Commission wishes to <br />establish a schedule of fees for new business categories. This Ordinancc shall be applicable <br />throughout the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br /> <br />Section 3. Amending Chapter 197. Chapter 197 of the Sunny Isles Beach Code entitled <br />"Occupational License and Tax" is renamed as "Local Business Tax" in compliance with Florida <br />state law and amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 197-1.
