<br />If a private security firm or individuals associated with the event are acting as security guards. <br />the event promoter shall indicate that in the special event application. The police liaison will <br />also coordinate with each promoter how many security guards the promoter will need to hire for <br />street closure and other responsibilities. All race/walks will be required to hire security guards in <br />order to help close the roads and monitor street closings. <br /> <br />The cost for providing off-duty police services will vary based on whether the event is a City <br />sponsored event or a privately sponsored event. For privately sponsored events. the applicant <br />will contact the police department and speak to the special event police liaison. The liaison will <br />determine the number of officers needed and provide the applicant with an off-duty police detail <br />contract which must be completed and turned in as quickly as possible. The estimated fee for <br />off-duty police services will be determined when the special events police liaison receives a <br />finalized site map. Payments will be billed according to the off-duty police detail contract. <br /> <br />~ 233-8. Indemnification. <br /> <br />Before issuing a special event permit. the permit applicant and authorized officer of the <br />sponsoring organization, if any. must sign an agreement to defend the City against. and <br />indemnify and hold harmless the City. its officers. employees and agents. where such claim <br />arises in whole or in part out of the activities for which such permit is issued: except any claims <br />arising solely out of the negligent acts or omissions of the City. its officers. employees or agents. <br /> <br />~ 233-9. Insurance. <br /> <br />Before issuing a special event permit. the City Manager may require each applicant to file with <br />the City Manager a certificate of insurance showing the maintenance of insurance in an amount <br />appropriate to cover the liability of the permitee for property damage and iniuries to persons in <br />connection with the activities done in accordance with the special event permit. <br /> <br />~ 233-10. Cleanup deposits for events on public property. <br /> <br />A. Required for certain special events. The applicant/sponsor of an event on public property <br />may be required to provide a cleanup deposit prior to the issuance of a special event permit. In <br />addition to a $150 nonrefundable cleanup inspection fee. the following cleanup deposit fees are <br />required: (1) 0 to 100 people the fee shall be $350 (2) 101 to 499 people the fee shall be $450 <br />and (3) 500 plus people the fee shall be $500. The cleanup deposits are refundable. <br /> <br />B. Refunds and overruns. The cleanup deposit shall be returned after the event if the area used <br />for the permitted event has been cleaned and restored to the same condition as existed prior to the <br />event. If the property used for the event has not been properly cleaned or restored. the <br />applicant/sponsor shall be billed for the actual cost by the City for cleanup and restoration.
