Vera, Assistant City Manager/Service Division <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />11/19/2009 <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Amendment to Special Events Ordinance <br /> <br />RECOMMENDA TION: <br /> <br />This Ordinance is presented for your consideration. <br /> <br />REASONS: <br /> <br />Several years ago, the City Commission adopted the Special Events Ordinance to <br />alleviate the negative impacts of large gatherings in the City. After consulting with the <br />Police Department, staff has proposed several amendments to the Special Events <br />Ordinance to mitigate negative impacts. Staff is proposing the following amendments to <br />the Special Events Ordinance: (1) Coordination requirements with the Police <br />Department; (2) Hold harmless and insurance requirements; and (3) new fees for special <br />events on private and public property. <br /> <br />By adopting this Ordinance, the City Commission will provide staff the necessary tools <br />to protect the public. <br /> <br />A TT ACHMENTS: <br />.
