<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2009- 13'13 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CO-NAMING <br />17STH TERRACE, FROM COLLINS AVENUE TO <br />ATLANTIC BOULEVARD, AS "CITY COMMISSIONER. <br />IRVING TURETSKY STREET"; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT <br />OF UP TO SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ($600.00), FOR THE <br />INSTALLATION OF STREET SIGNS AND TO DO ALL <br />OTHER THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE <br />INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, for several years Irving Turetsky has been an active and outstanding <br />resident of Sunny Isles Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Irving Turetsky was one of five incorporators of the City that assisted in <br />the incorporation of Sunny Isles Beach and an original Elected Official that served the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach, serving as the City's first Vice Mayor, followed by three (3) years of <br />dedicated service as Commissioner; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Irving Turetsky has served as President of Temple B 'nai Zion for eight (8) <br />years, and is now President Emeritus, and he was honored in 2001 with the Star of David A ward <br />from the State of Israel Bonds Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on Sunday, March 9, 2003, Mayor David Samson on behalf of the City <br />Commission proclaimed March 9, 2003 as "Irving Turetsky Day" in the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, through his relentless efforts, he has donated his time and expertise for the <br />betterment of Sunny Isles Beach and its citizens; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate and fitting that 17Sth Terrace, from Collins Avenue to <br />Atlantic Boulevard, be co-named "City Commissioner Irving Turetsky Street" to honor former <br />Commissioner Turetsky for his work and efforts for the betterment of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Co-Naming of Street. The City of Sunny Isles Beach formally <br />approves and requests the approval of Miami-Dade County to co-designate 17Sth Terrace, from <br />Collins A venue to Atlantic Boulevard, as "City Commissioner Irving Turetsky Street" in honor <br />of former Commissioner Turetsky. <br /> <br />R2009- Irving Turetsky Co-Name 17Sth St Designation Page 1 of 2 <br />
