<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010- , 58~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />APPL Y FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND ADDITIONAL FUNDING IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />($200,000.00) FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT <br />TECHNOLOGY UNDER A COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING <br />SERVICES ("COPS") TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM, SPONSORED BY <br />THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has an active and growing policing unit that <br />is seeking to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has determined that there is a need for law enforcement <br />technology equipment that will enhance or implement new or current technology within the <br />Police Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice has additional funding available in <br />the amount of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) under the FY 2010 COPS <br />Technology Program and has invited the City to apply for the additional funding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Police Department intends to use the funding to purchase five (5) <br />automatic tag readers, one (1) advisory radio station, forty-eight (48) defibrillators and one (1) <br />uninterrupted power system for a total cost not to exceed $200,000.00. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, <br />receive and expend funds in the amount of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) for <br />law enforcement technology equipment under the United States Department of Justice <br />Community Oriented Policing Program (COPS) Technology Program. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date. <br /> <br />This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of July 2010. <br /> <br />R20IO- cops Additional Funding <br /> <br /> <br />1 <br />
