<br />..;J <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010- ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND UP TO SEVENTY -FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />($75,000.00) FROM THE PARTIAL FEDERAL FORFEITURE <br />(DOJ) FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF MISCELLANEOUS <br />INVESTIGATIVE EQUIPMENT TO BE USED BY THE <br />POLICE DEP ARTMENT'S DETACHED DETECTIVE AND <br />HIS DEA, HIDT A GROUP; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to <br />Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) in federally forfeited funds in compliance with the <br />aforementioned. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br />the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to $75,000.00 from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures account for the purchase of miscellaneous investigative <br />equipment to be used by the Police Department's detached Detective and his DEA, HIDTA Group. <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
