<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010-~5 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING A FACT <br />FINDING BEACH ENVIRONMENT AL COMMITTEE; <br />PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY OF THE CITY MANAGER AND <br />CITY ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C-3.9 of the City Charter of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach, the City Commission is authorized to establish boards and agencies as it may deem <br />advisable from time to time; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes that advisory boards are an invaluable <br />source of information and feedback for the City's elected and appointed officials; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, advisory committees play an important role in assisting the City in critical <br />policy decisions that impact the entire community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, advisory boards research, study and discuss issues with short and long term <br />implications, forwarding their recommendations to the City Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to establish a fact finding beach environmental <br />committee to identify short and long term issues that impact the beach environment, evaluating <br />potential solutions and recommending policy and practices to City staff for administrative or City <br />Commission action. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing recital paragraphs are hereby ratified <br />and confirmed as being true and the same are hereby made part of this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 2. Establishment and Responsibilities of the Fact Finding Beach Environmental <br />Committee. The Fact Finding Beach Environmental Committee is hereby formed consisting of 3 <br />(three) members with an interest in beach environment issues impacting the City. The <br />Committee members shall be Vice Mayor Lewis Thaler, City Manager Rick Conner or his <br />designee and resident Trina Duluc. Vice Mayor Lewis Thaler shall serve as a Chairperson of this <br />Committee. The Committee shall work closely with City officials and boards, as well as other <br />federal, state and local governmental agencies, including Miami-Dade County, on matters such as <br />beach pollution, erosion, cleanup, water quality, and sea turtle monitoring. <br /> <br />Section 3. Authority of the City Manager and the City Attorney. The City Manager and the <br />City Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> <br />Page I of2 <br />
