<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010- ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />AND/OR HIS DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND <br />GRANT FUNDS FROM THE STATE OF FLORIDA LAND AND WATER <br />CONSERVATION FUND (LWCF), IN AN AMOUNT OF UP TO TWO <br />HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($200,000.00), FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />FINANCING SITE IMPROVEMENTS AT THE BELLA VISTA BAY PARK <br />LOCATED AT 500 SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD; AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH <br />RESPECT TO THE OBTAINING, ACCEPTANCE, AND DISTRIBUTION OF <br />GRANT MONIES, AS APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is interested in carrying out the following <br />described project for the enjoyment of the citizenry of the City of Sunny Isles Beach and the State of <br />Florida: <br /> <br />Project Title: <br />Total Estimated Cost: <br /> <br />Bella Vista Bay Park <br /> <br />$500,000 <br /> <br />Brief Description of Project: This project has been approved by the City and will include the <br />removal and replacement of the existing concrete and steel seawall structure. The creation of this <br />new retaining wall will allow the creation of a kayak launch and a baywalk/trail that will allow <br />connection to the City's pedestrian and bicycle system. The hard surface walkway will bisect the <br />inland portion connecting the docs, pavilions and other amenities on the site to allow for access from <br />the adjacent parking lot. The walkways throughout the park will be ADA compliant and provide <br />disabled access up to the waterway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, grant funds from the Florida Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) <br />would provide financial assistance of up to $200,000 with a dollar-for-dollar cash match from the <br />City for site improvements at the Bella Vista Bay Park. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authority to Apply For and Accept Grant. The City Manager and/or his designee is <br />authorized to make application to the Florida Land and Water Conservation Fund, in the amount of <br />up to $200,000 with a dollar-for-dollar cash match from the City. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager.
