RESOLUTION NO. 2010- , t.... '2.1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE UNITED WAY OF MIAMI-DADE, IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,200.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting various social services programs of interest and benefit to its residents and fellow man; and WHEREAS, the United Way of Miami-Dade's Mission is building community by helping people care for one another, working to advance the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all, focusing on improving education, income and health - the building blocks for a good life; and WHEREAS, the United Way of Miami-Dade goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place; and WHEREAS, the United Way of Miami-Dade invest in quality programs, advocate for better policies, engage people in the community and generate resources; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to give a charitable contribution to the United Way of Miami-Dade, in an amount of One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Authorization of Donation. The City Commission hereby authorizes a charitable contribution to the United Way of Miami-Dade, in an amount of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00). Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
