<br />9. Applicant is presumed to be familiar with all laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations that may in <br />any way affect the work. Ignorance on the part of the Contractor will in no way relieve him <br />from responsibility. <br /> <br />10. Inappropriate decals on tow trucks to be removed. City reserves the right to determine <br />what is inappropriate. <br /> <br />11. To ensure the safe transport of individuals towed, the towing company will conduct the <br />following background of all tow truck drivers: <br /> <br />a. Annual drug testing at a facility approved by the City. <br /> <br />b. Submit copy of valid Florida driver's license to the City for an annual driving <br />history review. <br /> <br />FDLE criminal history (FDLE website). The report will be submitted to the City for approval. <br />The City will consider the totality of the circumstances with emphasis on any felony <br />convictions or convictions of moral turpitude including but not limited to drugs, domestic <br />violence, weapons offenses and sexual offenses. <br /> <br />1.j~ SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach is inviting licensed towing firms to submit qualifications and proposals <br />to the City for the removal, impounding, and/or storage of junk vehicles, abandoned vehicles, <br />illegally parked vehicles, non-drivable vehicles at accident scenes, the vehicles of prisoners arrested <br />by the City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department, confiscated vehicles, or for any other reason that <br />arises from the streets or other areas within the City, or from other locations as directed by the Police <br />Department, for a period of three years. <br /> <br />It is the City's intent to select 2 (two) or more Contractors to be utilized on a rotating basis. The <br />Contractors shall either be rotated on a, per tow, daily, weekly, monthly or bimonthly basis (every two <br />months). The City also wishes to select 1 (one) or more Contractors as alternates. The alternate <br />Contractors may be utilized in the event the primary Contactors are unable to provide service or fulfill <br />their obligations under the contract and/or in the event of a state of emergency or disaster. <br /> <br />1.5 <br /> <br />SUBMISSION DATE <br />CONFERENCE <br /> <br />AND <br /> <br />MANDATORY <br /> <br />PRE-RFP <br /> <br />SUBMISSION <br /> <br />Proposals must be received by the City Clerk's Office no later than 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July <br />29, 2010, at the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, Attn: City Clerk, First Floor Conference <br />Room, 18070 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160. One (1) original, and four (4) <br />copies of the completed and executed proposal must be delivered by this deadline. Proposals will <br />be opened publicly and read aloud at this time. The City reserves the right to accept or not accept <br />late submitted proposals based on the sole discretion of the City Manager or his designee. <br /> <br />5 <br />
