He was invited by the authors of <br />t\[OD;\C - an "automatic" groundwater calibration code <br />to beta-test the program since 1997. This code was <br />successfully applied to more than 10 major projects <br />before it was incorporated into a famous groundwater <br />pre- and post-processor, Groundwater Vista in 2004. <br /> <br />Dr. Yan is currently an adjunct professor in the Civil and <br />Environmental Department at Louisiana State <br />Uni\'ersity, teaching "\\'ater Distribution and <br />\'\'aste\vater Collection," " Grounchvater," "Hydrology," <br />and "Hydraulics." In these classes, he teaches Heastad <br />Methods that include Flowmaster, WaterCad, StormCad, <br />SewerCad, and Cuh-ert~laster. I-Ie also teaches <br />EP/\NET2, HEC-HMS and HEC-IL\S to the students. <br /> <br />Dr. Yan \vorkcd for the i\[inistl\' of \\'ater Resources <br />and Electric Power in China for O\'er twenty years as an <br />engineer before he came to the States and was involved <br />in planning and designing of some hydraulic structures. <br />He also was hcavih' itwoh-cd in the assessment of water <br />resources, planning and management of water resources <br />in the Haihe and Ruanhe Ri\"Cr Basins in North China. <br />He was il1\'oh-ed in the design of Panjiakou Reservoir, <br />Sixiali Dam and Du-Liu and Beidakang Floodways in <br />northern China. <br /> <br />Dr. Yan was the president of the American \\'ater <br />Resources Association (Louisiana Section, 1993-(994). <br />He was a member of the International i\ffairs National <br />Committee of this organization. I-Ie serves as "Ground <br />\,\'ater" journal's associate editor from January 2006. Dr, <br />Yan is currently a registered Environmental Professional <br />and a registered Professional Engineer. He is currently <br />an adjunct professor in the Civil and Environmental <br />Engineering Department of Louisiana State University <br />and a member of the advisory board for that <br />Departmcn t. <br /> <br />Relevant Experience <br />02/1998 - Present, Senior Staff <br />Consultant, Shaw Environmental & <br />Infrastructure, Inc. <br />Performing surface and groundwater modeling for <br />clients; supervision, re\'ie\v and coordination of <br />modeling effort, engineering effort as distinguished <br />technical leader; co-chair of Shaw E & I's civiV structural <br />engineering group; preparation of technical portions of <br />major modeling/ design engineering proposals. Provide <br />technical mentoring for other modelers in groundwater <br />modeling within the company. <br /> <br />Gave presentations and lectures in some major research <br />institutes and the t\[inistry of Water Resources in China. <br />Presented papers at Shaw E & I Technical Symposium <br />and contributed papers at other national conferences. <br />Received t\vo Chinese delegations from the ~[inistry of <br />\'\'ater Resources (im'ited by Louisiana Department of <br />Natural Resources) and t\vo Chinese groups to \,isit <br />Shaw for Nuclear businesses. Perform 3-D <br />groundwater flow and transport modeling for the site to <br />support remedial action alternatives to be considered in <br />the Feasibility Study. <br /> <br />Flow model calibration has been accomplished and the <br />results were presented to COE and EP A in December <br />2004 without negative comments.
