• • • • Spillis Candela DMJM has had a long history in the design of environmentally sensitive buildings. As a result of the firm's origin in South Florida, where the climate is best described as sub-tropi- cal, the firm has developed an expertise in the area of environmentally sensitive design. In an effort to design energy efficient buildings which reduce the consumption of non - renewable natu- ral resources, Spillis Candela DMJM (SCDMJM) have demonstrated significant success in the area through the use of both active and passive systems design. • Our design for your project will include architec- tural detailing and innovative building technolo- gies which reflect both SCPDMJM and the industry's best environmental practices. SCDMJM will work closely with the City of Sunny Isles Beach in creating cost/benefit analyses and the financial feasibility of implementing sustain- . able design concepts developed during the de- sign process of the Government Center project. • Typically SCDMJM projects maximize features • of the indigenous environment and are directly responsive to the subtopical climate of South • Florida. Initial planning and engineering consid- erations impact our design process at SCDMJM, • whereby specific attention is given to indoor air quality, energy conservation, sustainability, and • the careful selection of building materials and sys- tems - derived from sustainable sources.
