Store loose granular materials in a well- drained area on solid <br />surfaces to prevent mixing with foreign matter. <br />C. All materials and equipment to be incorporated in the work shall be handled <br />and stored by the Contractor before, during, and after shipment in a manner <br />to prevent warping, twisting, bending, breaking, chipping, rusting, and any <br />injury, theft or damage of any kind whatsoever to the material or equipment. <br />D. Cement, sand, and lime shall be stored under a roof and off the ground and <br />shall be kept completely dry at all times. All structural and miscellaneous <br />steel, and reinforcing steel shall be stored off the ground or otherwise to <br />prevent accumulations of dirt or grease, and to minimize rusting. Brick, <br />block and similar masonry products shall be handled and stored in a <br />manner to reduce breakage, chipping, cracking, and spalling to a minimum. <br />E. Moving parts shall be rotated a minimum of once weekly to insure proper <br />lubrications and to avoid metal -to -metal "welding ". Upon installation of the <br />equipment, the Contractor shall start the equipment, at least half load, once <br />weekly for an adequate period of time to insure that the equipment does not <br />deteriorate from lack of use. <br />F. All materials which, in the opinion of the Engineer, have become so <br />damaged as to be unfit for the use intended or specified shall be promptly <br />removed from the site of the work, and the Contractor shall receive no <br />compensation for the damaged material or its removal. <br />G. Arrange storage in a manner to provide easy access for inspection. Make <br />periodic inspections of stored Products to assure that Products are <br />maintained under specific conditions, and free from damage or <br />deterioration. <br />H. Provide substantial coverings as necessary to protect installed products <br />from damage from traffic and subsequent construction operations. Remove <br />covering when no longer needed. <br />The Contractor shall be responsible for all materials, equipment, and <br />supplies sold and delivered to the Owner under this Contract until final <br />inspection of the work and acceptance thereof by the Owner. In the event <br />any such material, equipment, and supplies are lost, stolen, damaged, or <br />destroyed prior to final inspection and acceptance, the Contractor shall <br />replace same without additional cost to the Owner. <br />J. Should the Contractor fail to take proper action on storage and handling of <br />equipment supplied under this Contract within seven days after written <br />notice to do so has been given, the Owner retains the right to correct all <br />01600 -4 03 -4465 <br />
