I <br />' H. Plant material shall be handled only in ways and means accepted by the industry and <br />approved by the Landscape Architect. <br />' I. Plant material shall be planted the same day it is dug. Preparation of planting pits or <br />beds shall be coordinated to ensure this schedule. <br />' 3.02 PLANTING <br />A. Tree Spade Material: <br />1. Plant materials that are tree spaded and are relocated to areas accessible by tree <br />spade equipment shall be planted in tree spaded planting pits as required. <br />' 2. Plant materials that are tree spaded and are relocated to areas that are not <br />accessible by tree spade equipment shall be planted according to procedures <br />tdescribed for new plant materials in Section 02490. <br />3. Contractor shall continue watering and caring for relocated material as described <br />in paragraph 3.04 and as described for new material, Section 02490. <br />' B. Hand Dug Material: <br />1. Relocated plant material shall be planted according to procedures described for <br />new material, Section 02490. Additionally, terrasorb shall be added to backfill. <br />2. Contractor shall continue watering and caring for relocated material as described <br />' in paragraph 3.04 and as described for new material, Section 02490. Relocated <br />material which does not survive shall be replaced with equal canopy at no cost to <br />the Owner. <br />' 3.03 FERTILIZER <br />A. Relocated plant materials shall be fertilized immediately after transplanting. <br />B. Fertilizer shall be applied according to procedures described for new materials, 02484 <br />and 02490. <br />3.04 STAKING AND GUYING <br />A. Designated material shall be staked and guyed according to procedures described for new <br />plant materials, Section 02490. <br />3.05 WATERING <br />A. Contractor shall be responsible for the manual watering of relocated plant materials by <br />providing a 90 -day watering program, until they are established. <br />B. Following tree spading and /or relocation, trees and palms designated for transplanting <br />shall be watered twice a day for the first two weeks, every two days for the third week to <br />the sixth week following the installed date, every third day for the remainder of the 90 <br />day period, completely saturating the root ball for a period of thirty consecutive days <br />following moving. Such watering shall thoroughly saturate the root ball to its full depth. <br />After ninety day watering period plant materials shall be watered and maintained as <br />according to procedures described for new plant materials, Section 02490. <br />1 12/04 02481 -7 04 -4801 <br />
