Russo, City Manager
FROM: Susan Simpson, Cultural & Community Services Director
DATE: 12/15/2016
In-Kind Donation to the North Miami Beach Little League
RE' for Use of the Baseball Field at Pelican Community Park
RECOMMENDATION:
This item is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
North Miami Beach Little League is a not-for-profit organization that
provides a little league baseball program for the northeast Miami-Dade
County neighborhood. It is the home league for Sunny Isles Beach
residents. This program continues to grow and the baseball field at
Pelican Community Park has become the home field for most of our
resident players.
Volunteers of this league also program the annual Challenger Program
which is a short off-season baseball program that provides the
opportunity for disabled players to partner with volunteer players to play
the game of baseball in a fun and safe environment. Sunny Isles Beach
has hosted this special program for the last few years through a
separate request.
In order to consolidate requests, staff is requesting one approval for
the calendar year to provide free use of the baseball field when
available for both programs. Maximum number of hours of availability,
based on their request, is 877 hours at $25 / hour for the not-for-profit
61
