RESOLUTION NO. 2016-2_b,14 7 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE <br /> DONATION OF SURPLUS COMPUTER EQUIPMENT TO <br /> MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND SOUTH <br /> FLORIDA DIGITAL ALLIANCE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br /> EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting <br /> various social service programs; and <br /> . WHEREAS, the South Florida Digital Alliance was incorporated as a non-profit entity in <br /> May 2009 under the name of the Miami-Dade Broadband Coalition of which founding was made <br /> possible by a generous grant provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in support <br /> of connecting organizations to the interne and to each other to provide opportunities for all <br /> segments of our community; and <br /> WHEREAS, South Florida Digital Alliance enhances the quality of life for South Florida <br /> residents representing the anchor institutions of our community for education, government, <br /> healthcare and non-profit organizations, and have expressed a desire to utilize certain computer <br /> equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City is in possession of a significant amount of surplus computers and <br /> computer equipment which is no longer viable for business use in the City and wishes to donate <br /> to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools'any equipment that the Norman S. Edelcup Sunny <br /> Isles Beach K-8 will accept, and all remaining items to be donated to the South Florida Digital <br /> Alliance. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Donation of Surplus Computer Equipment. The City Commission hereby <br /> approves the donation of surplus computer equipment to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools <br /> and to the South Florida Digital Alliance. <br /> Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br /> things necessary to effectuate this resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
