CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at lO:OOa.m. Rick Conner, Public Works Director, introduced himself and distribllted an aerial photograph of the area with the proposed facilities shown on it (titled: "Fund 1: Parks Impact Fees", page 220 of Comprehensive Plan or LDRs). 2. DISCUSSION Emergencv & Pedestrian Bridge Rick Conner displayed a photograph displaying where the Emergency and Pedestrian Bridge, that will connect N. Bay Road from 1 74th Street to 172nd Street, will be located. A walkway will connect Town Center Park down to the Pedestrian Bridge (where there will be an observation deck). The City wants a design of bridge that will connect North Bay Road throllgh. At this point, Collins is the only way to get from the north-end of the city to the south-end of the city. Another parallel emergency route is needed in case there is an accident or other emergency. A fire station is located on 172nd Street. We currently have a 20' pedestrian easement offset through there. The building that currently exists there abuts an easement. An alignment must be made on the western side. It is believed that at some point the abutting bllilding will be renovated and rebllilt. All we have is the 20' easement and so the alignment must be made on the west side. At this time we want a very elaborate pedestrian bridge such that if and when we obtain (and if the Commission desires) the additional access needed, we can tllrn it into a fllll-fledged vehicular bridge with really nice pedestrian facilities. Boardwalk The second part project is a boardwalk that will connect to the Town Center Park. Originally, these two were going to be separate projects. We are combining the designs to ensure good connectivity. That is the overall bulk and content.
