<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011- I ~(..'7 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE INTERIM CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF <br />1984 TO EXPEND UP TO TWENTY-THREE THOUSAND <br />SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-FOUR DOLLARS ($23,784.00) <br />FROM THE PARTIAL FEDERAL FORFEITURE (DOJ) <br />FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE POLICE VEHICLE <br />AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Interim Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to <br />Twenty-Three Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty-Four Dollars ($23,784.00) in federally forfeited <br />funds in compliance with the aforementioned. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, <br />the Interim Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to $23,784.00 from the established <br />Department of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures account for the purchase of one Police vehicle and <br />associated equipment. <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
