Mix products, in clean containers, according to manufacturer's written instructions. <br /> <br />1. Add clean silica sand and coarse aggregates to products only as recommended by <br />manufacturer. <br />2. Do not add water, thinners, or additives unless recommended by manufacturer. <br />3. When practical, use manufacturer's premeasured packages to ensure that materials are <br />mixed in proper proportions. When premeasured packages are not used, measure <br />ingredients using graduated measuring containers; do not estimate quantities or use <br />shovel or trowel as unit of measure. <br />4. Do not mix more materials than can be used within recommended open time. Discard <br />materials that have begun to set. <br /> <br />B. Dry-Pack Mortar: Mix with just enough liquid to form damp cohesive mixture that can be <br />squeezed by hand into a ball but is not plastic. <br /> <br />C. Concrete: Comply with Division 3 Section "[Cast-in-Place Concrete] [Cast-in-Place <br />Concrete (Limited Applications)]." <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br /> <br />A. Notify Architect seven days in advance of dates when areas of deteriorated or delaminated <br />concrete and deteriorated reinforcing bars will be located. <br /> <br />B. Locate areas of deteriorated or delaminated concrete using hammer or chain drag sounding and <br />mark boundaries. Mark areas for removal by simplifying and squaring off boundaries[ as <br />directed hy Architect].
