Replacement Stone: Test each proposed type of replacement stone, according to <br />ASTM C 170 for compressive strength, ASTM C 99 for modulus of rupture, and <br />ASTM C 97 for absorption and bulk specific gravity. <br /> <br />1.5 SUBMITTALS <br /> <br />A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. <br /> <br />B. Shop Drawings: For the following: <br /> <br />1. Replacement stone units and their jointing, showing relation of existing to new units. <br />2. Provisions for expansion joints or other sealant joints. <br /> <br />C. Samples: For each exposed product and for each color and texture specified. <br /> <br />D. Preconstruction test reports. <br /> <br />1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />A. Restoration Specialist Qualifications: Engage an experienced[, preapproved] stone restoration <br />and cleaning firm to perform work of this Section. Firm shall have completed work similar in <br />material, design, and extent to that indicated for this Project with a record of successful in- <br />service performance. Experience installing standard unit masonry or new stone masonry is not <br />sufficient experience for stone restoration work. <br /> <br />1. At Contractor's option, work may be divided between two specialist firms: one for <br />cleaning work and one for repair work. <br />2. Field Supervision: Restoration specialist fIrms shall maintain experienced full-time <br />supervisors on Proj ect site during times that stone restoration and cleaning work is in <br />progress. <br />3. Restoration Worker Qualifications: Persons who are experienced in restoration work of <br />types they will bl~ performing. [ When stone units are heing patched, assign at least <br />one worker among those performing patching work who is trained and certified hy <br />manufacturer of patching compound to apply its products.] <br /> <br />B. Mockups: Prepare mockups of restoration and cleaning to demonstrate aesthetic effects and set <br />quality standards for materials and execution and for fabrication and installation. <br /> <br />1. Stone Repair: Prepare sample areas for each type of stone indicated to have repair work <br />performed. If not otherwise indicated, size each mockup not smaller than 2 adjacent <br />whole units or approximately 48 inches (1200 mm) in least dimension. Erect sample <br />areas in existing walls unless otherwise indicated, to demonstrate quality of materials, <br />workmanship, and blending with existing work. Include the following as a minimum: <br /> <br />a. Replacement: [Four] <Insert number> stone units replaced. <br />b.
