<br />SECTION 02222 <br />PROJECT AREA PREPARATION <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />All materials, labor, equipment, tools, and superintendence necessary to provide preparation of <br />the rights of way for decorative paving, landscaping, irrigation and lighting. <br /> <br />1.02 DEFINmONS <br />Preparation of the Rights of Way shall be defined as the removal and disposal of all surface and <br />subsurface obstructions from the rights of way and designated easements, where removal of all <br />such obstructions is not otherwise shown on the plans and or stipulated in the specifications. <br />Such obstructions shall be considered to include remains of houses, foundations, floor slabs, <br />concrete, brick, lumber, plaster, septic tank drain fields, abandoned utility pipes or conduits, <br />equipments, fences, and retaining walls. These items shall also include the removal of trees and <br />shrubs and other landscape features not designated for preservation, stumps, brush, roots, <br />vegetation, logs, curb and gutter, street paving, miscellaneous stone, sidewalks, drainage <br />structures, manholes, catch basins, abandoned railroad tracks, wood bollards and scrap iron. <br /> <br />1.03 SITE CONDITION <br />The site is all or partially in the flood plain. Surface and ground water conditions do exist within <br />the areas of proposed Work, which may impede performance of the Work. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />Not included in this section. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 PROTECTION <br />All areas, as shown on the plans, shall be cleared of all structures obstructions as defined above. <br />Those trees, shrubs and other landscape features specifically designated for preservation shall be <br />carefully protected from abuse, marring or damaged during construction operations. Continual <br />parking and servicing of equipment under the drip line or canopy of trees marked for <br />preservation is not permitted. When trees and shrubs are designated for preservation and require <br />pruning, they shall be trimmed as directed by the Consultant. <br /> <br />3.02 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />1. Removal <br />Sidewalks, Irrigation, Landscape and Backfill shall be removed in a proper sequence for <br />maintenance of traffic and drainage. <br />2. Backfill <br />Holes remaining after removal of all obstructions, objectionable material, tree stumps, <br />etc., shall be backfilled and shall be reestablished to approximately the same as existed <br />prior to removal of the obstruction. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION <br /> <br />PAGE 102 OF 130 <br />BID No. 08-10-01 <br />
