<br />KNOWLEDGE <br />In order for a school crossing guard to perform his/her duties, the following knowledge is <br />essential. <br /> <br />1. Knowledge of the procedures in the Bayus standard procedures book for school <br />crossing guards, <br /> <br />2. Knowledge of the general instructions contained in this handbook. <br /> <br />3, Knowledge of the post orders for the post to which you are assigned. <br /> <br />4. Knowledge of the plant's physical layout and the general area surrounding the <br />plant. <br /> <br />5. Knowledge of the company's rules. <br /> <br />It is essential for school crossing guards to have a complete knowledge of their area. This <br />knowledge is also necessary for directing children and for providing other required information. <br />Specifically, the crossing guard is required to know the following: <br /> <br />~ Location of all departments and personnel. <br /> <br />~ Location of the telephones (including those for which "night connections" are <br />established). <br /> <br />~ Where all stairways and doors lead, <br /> <br />~ Where material are stored, <br /> <br />~ Location of firefighting equipment, such as hand extinguishers, fire hoses, and <br />fire hydrants. <br /> <br />~ Location of light switches, <br /> <br />~ Location of control rooms. <br /> <br />~ Location of all valves controlling the supply of water to sprinkler systems and <br />also where extra sprinkler heads are stored. <br /> <br />35 <br />
