<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011- l1 ~?:, <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND UP TO THIRTY -FOUR THOUSAND NINE <br />HUNDRED FORTY-THREE DOLLARS ($34,943.00) FROM <br />THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE (DOJ) FUNDS FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF A LIGHTNING PREDICTION AND <br />WARNING SYSTEM, AND SURVEILLANCE <br />CAMERASIEQUIPMENT FOR HERITAGE PARK; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City <br />and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department <br />of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to <br />enhance law enforcement purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of up to Thirty- <br />Four Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-Three Dollars ($34,943.00) in federally forfeited funds in <br />compliance with the aforementioned. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of Federallv Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached certification, the <br />Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to $34,943.00 from the established Department of <br />Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures account for the purchase of a Lightning Prediction and Warning <br />System in the amount of $17,925.00, and surveillance cameras/equipment (Amendment) in the <br />amount of$17,018.00, for Heritage Park. <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
